Boston’s Museum of Science says:
“Steven has fun with children of all ages and they have fun with him. Steven is a great entertainer and a great teacher.”

Hi, my name is Steven Craig; I’m excited to be presenting my literacy program throughout New England next summer as the character Stevie Kidding, the ridiculous magician.

I’m contacting you for two reasons:

1.) according to your library’s website, you’re the librarian responsible for children’s services.

2) I'm booking my new 2020 summer reading program.

This innovative program celebrates the imagination by blending magic, puppetry, and join-in storytelling to inspire children to dream big, believe in themselves, and create their own story.

As a master magician and accomplished children’s entertainer for more than 25 years (as well as a member of the Massachusetts Library Association, the New England Library Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians), I’ve been providing exceptional programs for children in elementary schools and preschools for more than two decades.

I use a variety of engaging performance techniques which capture the attention of young children, involve them throughout the show, and reinforce key messages.

The three key program messages are:

  1. Use your imagination to dream big and create your own story: Imagine a drawing of an astronaut comes to life and a tall rocket ship appears out of a small launch (i.e., lunch) box. Some kids want to grow up to be an astronaut and fly in a rocket ship. Other kids may want to become a teacher, fire fighter, police officer, librarian. “Kids, what do YOU want to be?  Remember, you can be anything you want when you believe in yourself.”
  2. Believe in yourself: Children are presented with a challenge which can only be overcome by believing in themselves. This whimsical part of the shows involves lots of audience interaction, fun and colorful magic, and a message that the kids will surely remember: “When you believe in yourself, magic happens!”
  3. Visit the library often: Your library has books that will spark your imagination. You can explore right here in the library about anything you want to know more about. The shelves are packed with books about many subjects – from Art to Zebras – just waiting for you.

I've created a character -- "Stevie Kidding, the ridiculous magician" -- who loves reading books, especially comic books!  Why comic books?  In short, research has undeniably shown that comic books engage children in reading.

"Steve's show was a great all-ages magic show. It's hard to find something that truly appeals to the entire family. The library booked him for a school vacation show, and we were at full capacity. All of the children loved Pickle Donut, the bunny, and Stevie's hilarious magic tricks. The parents appreciated his humor just as much as the children. A great choice for family fun magic! "

Five reasons Imagine Your Story would be a fantastic experience at your library!

  1. MAGICChildren love magic and this show is loaded with it!  The magic happens to me and around me, which the children see and I don’t.  They love it and are empowered by it.
  2. MUSIC The kids get to clap and sing along with the music while the magic happens!
  3. PUPPETRY The children love my animated drawing that teaches about space. He is a silly character that they really relate to.
  4. LIVE RABBITYou can feel the excitement when “Pickle Donut” appears! All the kids get to pet him after the show also.
  5. FREE PRIZES Every child gets a free “space” coloring poster at the end of the show to take home and show their parents what fun they had at the library!
