Boston’s Museum of Science says:
“Steven has fun with children of all ages and they have fun with him. Steven is a great entertainer and a great teacher.”

Hi, my name is Steven Craig and I’m excited to be presenting my literacy program throughout New England this year.

I’m contacting you for two reasons:

1.) according to your library’s website, you’re the librarian responsible for children’s services.

2) And I’ve just added dates to my 2019 touring schedule.

This innovative program celebrates space exploration by blending magic, puppetry, and join-in storytelling to inspire children to dream big, believe in themselves, and create their own story.

As a master magician and accomplished children’s entertainer for more than 25 years (as well as a member of the Massachusetts Library Association, the New England Library Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians), I’ve been providing exceptional programs for children in elementary schools and preschools for more than two decades.

I use a variety of engaging performance techniques which capture the attention of young children, involve them throughout the show, and reinforce key messages.

In addition to learning about space, the three key program messages are:

  1. Dream big and create your own story: Imagine a drawing of an astronaut comes to life and a tall rocket ship appears out of a small launch (i.e., lunch) box. Some kids want to grow up to be an astronaut and fly in a rocket ship. Other kids may want to become a teacher, fire fighter, police officer, librarian. “Kids, what do YOU want to be?  Remember, you can be anything you want when you believe in yourself.”

  2. Believing in yourself: Children are presented with a challenge which can only be overcome by believing in themselves. This whimsical part of the shows involves lots of audience interaction, fund and colorful magic, and a message that the kids will surely remember: “When you believe in yourself, magic happens!”

  3. Visit the library often: You don’t have to fly to space to explore! You can explore right here in the library about anything you want to know more about. The shelves are packed with books about many subjects – from Art to Zebras – just waiting for you.

Performing recently at the West Tatnuck Public Library, Worcester, MA, (February 2019). The young girl from the audience is excited to be a part of the show.

. . . He runs an incredible show and managed to engage all the children: the younger and the older ones. They were all entertained and captivated by his tricks! We plan on using him again – he is well worth it.

In my five years’ experience, it is very difficult to find a magician that engages all ages (including the staff!) – where they are not bored or feel that the show is for little kids. His tricks and speaking skills really engage the crowd.

Five reasons Reach for the Stars would be an out-of-this-world experience at your library!

  1. MAGICChildren love magic and this show is loaded with it!  The magic happens to me and around me, which the children see and I don’t.  They love it and are empowered by it.
  2. MUSIC The kids get to clap and sing along with the music while the magic happens!
  3. PUPPETRY The children love my animated drawing that teaches about space. He is a silly character that they really relate to.
  4. LIVE RABBITYou can feel the excitement when “Pickle Donut” appears! All the kids get to pet him after the show also.
  5. FREE PRIZES Every child gets a free “space” coloring poster at the end of the show to take home and show their parents what fun they had at the library!
